Well I would have tosay a Loar is a mandolin built during the loar times 1922? to 1924or5 not sure about the dates mostly F5 style in that every F5 built since then is based on oh by the waY that would be Gibson hope that explains a LOAR. thanks dc:mandosmiley:

Deeflubb....You will find a few out of work comedians on this forum, all of their comments are in good natured fun of course...I once asked what was the difference in one mandolin compared to another and the only answer I got was, "About two grand"...I am afraid to re-post it....Enjoy the forum, I`m sure everyone on here knows what a Loar is.......Willie

so a Gibson Master Model signed by Lloyd Loar then... not a The Loar which is a different kettle of fish.
That being said, and since we're being technical, neither items are actually kettles of fish.

To the OP - why the question ?. Were you errrr, maybe thinking of buying one ?. If you can only find a 'used' one,don't let that put you off,
