Has there been any good books published, that teach various licks, that can be used in cord progressions, and in different keys?

What are the best recommendations on the subject?

Joe Carr has one. I think it's called 60 licks in 60 minutes. He basically plays one lick after another. There is tab pamphlet. It's given me ideas.

Fretboard Roadmaps for Mandolin......I'm working through this one with my teacher, and find it really good.

Frank Wakefield's intermediate mandolin video/dvd has a whole bunch of Monroe licks in there to learn from.

I bought the Brad Davis "Improvising the Mandolin" off Amazon last year. It seemed disappointing at first, bc there's just not a lot of info there for your 16 bucks...but...he did help me "crack the code" and get some patterns under my fingers that I use all the time. So, now, after a year or two of using his licks, I have to say, Highly recommended.
