Forgive today's posting binge. I think I may be avoiding practicing orchestra parts.

Anyway, Here are a couple of clips of Chicago Choro performing at SPACE, in Evanston last Thursday. The first one is Cochichando, the 2nd Brejeiro.
Yes, the unplayed piano fills half the shot. Next time I'll aim the camera better.
My flip video camera ran out of batteries shortly after the second tune so next time I'll also make sure I charge the thing up first.

So choro isn't just a coastal thing in the US. Its definitely made inroads in the midwest. Great music.

The group is Julie Koidin on flute, me on bandolim, usually Steve Ramsdell on guitar but he couldn't make it so my spouse Jeff filled in (thank you Jeff) and John Beard on cavaquinho and pandeiro.

Hi Linda,

Sorry, I'm a bit slow down here in the Southern Hemisphere. You'll have to forgive me for the time it took to reply.

Nice to see that choro is well-represented in Chicago (and Wisconsin)!

Quick question: how does the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra (America's oldest) feel about being represented by a 10-string player?

Another question: in 2008, you transitioned from being curious to LOVING the 10-string bandolim. What can you tell us 2 years later about playing a 10-string, especially after spending a week with Hermeto!!!!???

How did I miss this? It's lovely. Thanks for sharing it, Linda. Keep that candle lit! It's still just a dream for me down here in the Memphis area.
