Here's an interesting thought, take a look at this 3pt/mandola/f5 picture..

It occurred to me in looking at these next to each other that the H4 shape looks much more based on the 3pt body shape & proportions than the later 2-point. Actually, I've never seen an original H4 with a 3rd point, but I have seen them with this exact same shape at the time there were *only* 3pt F mandolins being made.

Here's 10001, which dates from ~1910/1911

Note the scroll side neck/body join is the 10th fret on both the 3pt and the dola, and it's the 12th on the 2pt F4. The body dimensions and proportions also seem to say more "3pt" to me

Hey Dan - Is it just me, or the angle of the shot, but is the sound hole in 10001 narrower from top to bottom than usual?
