I'm feeling the need for a new case for my 1987 Givens A-style. I currently have a shaped plywood case, now somewhat battered. Actually I like its battered quality, but it has a couple of problems:

- it doesn't fit very tightly, so the mando bumps around a bit inside.
- there's no room inside for extra strings, intellitouch tuner, etc.
- the handle isn't positioned at the center of gravity, making it awkward to carry.

So, I think what I am looking for is an oblong case (so it can have a decent sized accessory storage area inside) that will snugly fit the Givens with its skinny neck.

What are the options available and how much do they cost? Will I need to get something custom to get the fit?

Mine fits very snugly in a standard TKL "A" case.

I just went through the same process looking for a case for my Givens A and I ended up with a Rigel case. It's big enough to hold the mando with the tone gard on, and has plenty of storage space. The TKL is nice too, but the tone-gard would have to come off everytime the mando goes in the case.

Uh...I hope I'm not messing something up, but I always leave my Tone-Gard on when I put mine in the TKL case....

Mark - when you say standard TKL case, is that a shaped or rectangular one? On their website I find a rectangular "Professional" model and shaped cases in the "Prestige" and "Premier" product lines...kinda confusing.

Yeah, I know...TKL is terrible about standardization. Mine is a shaped case, fwiw. It's in the shop now for some setup work, so I can't even check it for any further model # or anything. Sorry. But it is not the rectangular one.
