I recently went from a 2001 F5-G to a 1999 F5-L signed by Charlie. The Fretboard seems much closer to the top of the instrument, in fact the gap between the fretboard extension and the top is visibly much closer or narrower as compared to the F5-G. Is this something unique to this instrument, did it just turn out this way? Or is it intentional? It was described to me as a "deep set neck", and mentioned casually by a few others as desirable. It definitely seems a little more comfortable to play. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif
