Here in the north east we're experiencing some snow -- quite a bit of snow -- and I've been thinking of mando tunes that concern snow in some regard. Any ideas?

While not a traditional bluegrass tune, check out an old Amazing Rhythm Aces tune "Out of the Snow." There's a couple of examples on Youtube.

For the Celtic fans, The Frost Is All Over -- a nice jig. Trouble is, the frost ain't all over; I just shoveled 12+ inches of heavy wet snow for an hour, and the driveway's only half done.

Well, if you can play John Henry, you are welcome to use the words of the version I rewrote while shoveling my driveway last month:
John Henry Moves to Indiana
When John Henry lived in California,
He didn’t rake and he didn’t shovel snow.
He’d go to the beach, but he’d think to himself,
“There’s a place where the cold wind blows, Lord Lord,
There’s a place where the cold wind blows.”
When John Henry moved to Indiana,
That wind began to blow.
When the temperature dropped and the snow did fall,
He went out with a shovel in the cold, Lord Lord,
He went out with a shovel in the cold.
The driveways are long in Indiana.
They’re long and they’re wide and they’re steep.
The snow it’s heavy and your hands they get cold,
And the show it gets a foot deep, Lord Lord,
The snow it gets a foot deep.
When John Henry lived in Indiana,
His neighbors all used gasoline,
For their mowers and their blowers and their four-wheel drives,
They loved their noisy machines, Lord Lord.
They loved their noisy machines.
John Henry said to his neighbors,
“A man ain’t nothing but a man.
Before I use a noisy machine,
I’ll die with a shovel in my hand, Lord Lord.
I’ll die with a shovel in my hand.”
Well, his neighbor had a red Toro.
It was smelly and heavy and loud.
He started at 8:00 and he finished by 12:00,
But John Henry he finished by 9:00, Lord Lord,
He finished in less than an hour.
Well, John Henry laid down his shovel.
He went inside and made some hot tea.
He looked at his driveway and said to his wife,
“That driveway’s as clear as can be, Lord Lord,
That driveway’s as clear as can be.”
Now some folks like their blowers
And their mowers powered by gasoline.
But John Henry likes his snow shovel
And he gets a good night’s sleep, Lord Lord,
He gets a good night’s sleep.

Kevin Burke once pointed out the "The Frost is All Over" is an ambiguous title - it can mean the frost is all gone, or it can mean the frost is everywhere. :)
Continuing with the Celtic theme, there's also "The Snowy Path" by Altan and "The Harsh February" by Phil Cunningham...

Heard a strong blue-collar contemporary New England song at a jam the other night, "Plow To The End Of The Road."

Someone ought to do "February" (http://darwilliams.net/music/tabs/february.html) by Dar Williams. An achingly sad and beautiful tale of winter and love gone cold set to a gorgeous melody - just crying out for a bluegrass version.
Overlooked because overplayed during Christmas: "Jingle Bells." It is not actually a Christmas song, despite the association, but a winter song.

How about "snow don't fall" by Townes Van Zandt. A great tune to practice tremelo.

Almost forgot: "The Snowy Road" by Tom Rozum, on The Road Home: A Tribute to Butch Baldassari.
Forever & the Same (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028IHSBG/ref=dm_mu_dp_trk16) on Kate & Anna McGarrigle's McGarrigle Hour (http://www.amazon.com/McGarrigle-Hour-Kate-Anna/dp/B00000DCWD/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_1) CD isn't bluegrass (yet), but it should be.
FOREVER AND THE SAME
INTRO:
There's a funny face astride the sawhorse of her dreams
He's been rocking around the clock
but the field's never gotten clear
The angels are chanting "Midnight in Paris"
at the cutting of the thirty first pig
And Caruso's entertaining as grandma's busy dusting
her stepping out wig
CHORUS:
But the comfort remains
That you know in the end
The jukebox sounds ever the same
The pump is all froze
And the horse is feet up
The grader has leveled the mailbox away
And the winter is turning your blue eyes to grey
By the snare's mute call
The old hound is swayed
There's nothing much keeping the coyotes at bay
Time's even scattered your heartaches they say
The clapboard is peeling
And the roof has a flap
The scrap man has lured the McCormick away
The trailer park calls you, do not delay
Your mate's on the dole
And the kids in the pen
Your sow has just landscaped the garden once more
Your fortune was long burned right onto the bar
lyrics by Philippe Tatartcheff
