Well after what seemed like a lifetime waiting (but only a couple of weeks really) my mandolin kit has arrived
Ken picked out a really nice back and front too

Looks good Polly. I can't wait for mine to arrive. It should be only a few days behind yours.

Not long now, and you'll be posting pictures :)
I'm now looking at bindings and veneers, OH agrees that the white binding isn't really going to complement what we have in mind so having fun looking at the choices - he likes tortoiseshell, I like rosewood too, but I also like an inner purfling on the top which he agreed looks really nice. He has ideas about the headstock decoration that I think will need something paler than rosewood - maybe he's got an offcut of flamed maple? :whistling:
Of course I can have any ideas I like - he'll be doing the hard work and complicated stuff! :))

I've just picked mine up from Parcelforce! I'll take some pics later but the front and back look fairly similar to yours. Well done Ken.
Lots of questions to ask later. I'll be compiling a list.
I have just completed my thickness gauge so will post a pick of that. I used a digital vernier rather than a dial guage. No doubt your OH has one already for his violins.

You jammy devil! Sounds like your parcel came by fighter jet! :))
looking forward to the pics :mandosmiley:
I know he's got a thiknes guage, but it may be a manual rather than digital, he's a traditionalist :)
