View Full Version : David Freshwater anyone spoken to him?
Hello fellow mando-heads...
# I ordered a Mandolin from David Freshwater in July. From reading the posts here I understand that he under estimates time of delivery...He said it would be ready by September, so, I have figured November...tee hee. However, I have been trying to reach him via email to set up a time to talk about my axe with no results. Has anyone spoken to him recently? Or is it that he doesn't keep up with emails? He called me the next day after I inquired via email about buying one...
# #Any insight from the community would be appreciated...

Howdy,
I talked to David about building a 10-string cittern last week. He's definately around, but I don't know if he's on schedule (not a concern, seeing that I intend to branch out probably next year). I've satisfied my MAS for now with an old mandola. Keep trying to reach him, he seems eager to talk...
Best Of Luck,
Dave

You'll probably get a call in the next day or two. He told me he doesn't like to spend time online because it takes him away from the workbench.
If your experience is anything like mine, you'll be happy with your instrument and with your dealings with David. My Freshwater mandolin generates comments wherever I take it.

My experience with him is similar. #I rarely received an electronic reply to my email questions, but usually received a phone call within a day or two from him.

I've spoken to David Freshwater a lot over the last year or so. My experience is that he is extremely helpful and responds quickly to phone calls. He often answers the phone himself or returns calls if you leave a message. He's not so quick to return e-mails, in my opinion. I've still not had a rewply to two I sent last month, but he did answer all the questions on the phone.
So, it might be worth you spending the extra dollar (or two) to give him a call - remembering the time difference, obviously).

Luthier time is not the same as normal human time. Be patient, it will be worth it. There is just no point in banging on the door, figuratively speaking, if it doesn't open the first time. <GG>
Enjoy,

Ok, thanks for the input...I was just afraid he had taken ill...Like I had said I know from the threads that he runs on a different clock (much like the mechanic that promises your car on Tuesday and you don't get it until Friday)...and I have no problem waiting for the axe...thanks for all the help...
Hello Friends,
Just spoke to David today and my mandolin is indeed shipping on time. So I guess I was more like the kid at Christmas (and who can blame me with all the great reviews he has had here), than it was him running behind. He did have a few internet problems, seems the cable got cut leading to his area and it took a week or so to fix. Plus my wife must've deleted his message from our answering machine before checking it. His number comes up as "unavailable" here in the states and seeing that the red light probably meant more recorded messages for cable tv, so she hit the magic button...so, even in the modern world, we may have been better off putting messages in bottles.
Just wanted to give everyone the scoop on this...He says it will ship next Friday....can't wait...
