My A string keeps comming unwound. It just wont stay put! Anybody know what to do?

The windings off of the core?

Is the winding coming loose in the string? If so, are you shortening the string before putting it on?
If you cut the string before installing it, the windings can loosen on the core, causing the problem you describe. Or are you describing the string coming unwound from the tuning peg shaft? If it's the latter, wrap the string downward from the hole in the shaft, and don't put on too many wraps. I've seen sloppily overwrapped pegs
shed wraps, especially if there's not much peghead angle.
