Just want to share with you that the A9 from the Mandolin Store came today, and it's LOUD, with a great chop! I will try to post some clips if I find out how. The neck is somewhat narrower than my old A40, but I guess I will get used to that. The action is a little bit higher than on my old mandolin, and I thing the nut is also a bit higher.I'm thinking of lowering the bridge a little.I have never done this before. Any advice on how to go about lowering the action?
Thanks!
John

Congratulations and enjoy your new mandolin!

Is it too high? Try playing it as is for a few days and see if you adjust to it. Are the same strings on the A9 as were on your other mandolin? If you do adjust it yourself, lower the string tension first before you adjust the action at the bridge. Use small adjustments. Be patient and take your time. If you make a considerable adjustment you may have to reposition the bridge too (again lower the tension before moving the bridge and be careful not to let the bridge lean forward).

Thank you for the advice! The strings on my old A40 are medium gauge, these might be somewhat thicker. Maybe I should just play it for some days and see if I get used to it.Today my fingertips got a bit sore from playing the A9, but when you're playing a new instrument it's hard to put it down..:)
