I'm considering replacing the original tailpiece on my A5-2 Flatiron with a solid cast one.
Looking for advice from others who have done this upgrade.
Are there ones that fit better than others i.e. do the screw holes line up perfectly?
I'll want a nickel or chrome finish.
Suggestions anyone?
Thanks

No clue, but you've got a nice mandolin! I love my A5-1!

Stamped Gibby style and a Gibby like Allen should be close , they claim to be .
get the end pin hole lined up , if the 3 screw holes are not spot on, glue in something to fill the ones that are not and pilot drill for the right one. It will not be seen.
seem to do drastic changes , Lebeda to James , and Waverly cloud to a Gibby like Gilchrist,
but I have my friendly local instrument tech do the work [no shop space in my wee apartment]

An Allen TR-1 in nickel should work fine (the nickel version of this one). They have standard hole spacings & should swap out easily,

I'd also look at the James tailpiece, but they're about $150.00 retail.

I changed out a Gibson type with a Weber Universal on my Mid Missouri and the holes were fine. I did have to put a thin shim in because the tailpiece stood off the instrument's top by about 1/32 in.
I like the Weber and have ordered another one for my new (to me) Mid Missouri.

I opened the case of my Flatiron A5 one morning and found the tailpiece had snapped at the bend. The Allen TR-1 (nickel) was a great match. The screw holes lined up perfectly. I spent more time worrying about it than I did making the switch. No exaggeration, the job took ten minutes.
