Do any of you know if the hole spacing on the Eastman tailpiece is drilled to standard Gibson spacing? Thanks Lp

Lane,
I think the tailpiece is merely a cast Weber tailpiece without the Weber logo. But I don't know if the Webers line up or not. Lotta help I am.

The tailpieces are cast but they are our own design. We did use Weber tailpieces on our earliest mandos while the new TP's were being created, perhaps you saw one of those. The holes do not line up with a traditional Gibson style tailpiece I'm afraid although the tailpiece will cover the old holes so the aesthetics are not compromised.
I personally like the cast tailpiece over the old Gibson style, any feedback on that?

Gordon, any Eastman dealers in Houston? Or plans to have a dealer?

We don't have anyone in Houston yet. Do you have any suggestions? The perfect candidate would be a small store that caters to serious musicians. We need a store that knows mandolins and doesn't just hang them on the wall and hope for the best. Send me some ideas and I will see if I can get some mandos out there for you to try.
Thanks,
Gordon
ps. South Austin Music and Hill Country Guitars are the closest dealers to you that have mandolins (we have a new updated mando dealer list on the website if you need the numbers). I mentioned this to another potential customer in Houston recently and I said that it was probably a long way to go to try an instrument. He said he didn't think it was too far. You people in Texas sure have a different perception of distance than we East coasters have

Gordon, the best store I have found in Houston for mandos is Fuller's Vintage Guitar. They carry the Gibson line among others. Whenever I have gone in, mandos are being played, not just hanging on the wall.
They also have a great lineup of guitars.
Fuller's are at 116 North Loop 610. Phone number is 713-880-2188.
Let me know what transpires....

Gordon,
I second the Fuller's endorsement. I bought my last mandoling there and they know a good instrument when they see one. Plus they are practically the only game in town when it comes to quality acoustic instruments.

I just had a nice chat with Eric Snesson at Fullers and I am going to be sending him a packet of information and we will be talking again next week. He was well aware of us and seemed genuinely interested in checking out our mandos. I will keep you all informed. Thanks for the referral!
