Hi Mando Folk

I’m looking to purchase a nice 5 string electric mandolin. I know nothing about them but would like a quality instrument with good playability and one that’s nicely set up. Has anyone any experience of 5 string electrics? Would be grateful of any info.

Thanks!
:)

You should be aware of the section devoted to this, Four, Five and Eight-String Electrics Electric-specific discussions

and redirect your search into prior discussions there.

Own a 5 string Pentaula , which I currently have as an Octave, GDAEB,
in spite of its , roughly, 15"scale length...
they are not made anymore though..

Guitar Tex (http://www.guitartex.com/)in San Antonio has a 5 string Weber. Very nice. Plays like butter. The extra C string really gives a lot of flexibility in the available open chords. A lot of fun to play. It's built with the same care as their wonderful acoustic instruments.
