tiltman,
check with mando-medic for (kenc@wvi.com) details, but I thought he told me that he was doing a concert in Stayton at the theatre with Grier and Compton on October 14th.

Tiltman,
Give Ken Cartwright a call. #A while back he mentioned they would do a show in Stayton in the fall and it would be recorded for a live CD. #I am tempted to fly back home to Oregon just to see it if it happens.

David Grier and Mike Compton will be in Stayton Oregon on October 14th, Thursday night. This will probably be their only Oregon show. I have been wanting to get these two guys together again since I saw them on the Oregon coast together some time ago. If you are in the Northwest and would like ticket information, contact me at 503-769-2778 or email me at kenc@wvi.com . Thanks, Kenc

FYI, I saw Compton and Grier in St. Louis last month in a concert at Music Folk. It was a great show. The Buckhannon Brothers opened for them and of course, they are always great. Then Compton and Grier played for over two hours, not counting the intermission. They did some traditional bluegrass, but that was not most of the set. Most of the set were their own tunes and almost jazzy interpretations of fiddle tunes.
I mean the following in a good way: They also did a lot of "musical acrobatics," a.k.a. blatant showing off. And let me tell you, these guys can show off with the best of them! To me, two big surpirses were how well Mike Compton can sing and how good a songwriter he is.
