I've searched the archives without much luck, so I'm posting here. Hope this hasn't been beat to death, but is there any free shareware out, that slows songs down on your computer such as "The Amazing Slowdowner".

Thanks in advance.

there is a program called Audacity that works well for me. if you do a search for it in google you should be able to find it. i use it to slow down recordings that my teacher creates for me as well as slowing down music from CDs. as long as you convert the recordings to MP3s it seems to work well. good luck!

Winamp has a plugin program called Pacemaker, that allows you to slow things down, very easy to use.

I use SlowBlast and it is easy to use and you can loop but I wasn't free though pretty cheap think I paid $19.95 for it.

The new version of Windows Media Player will slow down songs as well.

you must select (highlight) the part of the song you want to change. then, under "effects" select "change tempo". this does not change the pitch and you can select how slow you want it to be based on a percentage. i hope that helps - let me know if it works for you.

How do you slow down songs in Windows Media Player?
Go to "View", then "Enhancements", then "Play Speed Settings" from the menu bar at the top. Or, from the "Now Playing" screen, you can click the little box icon at the lower left of the visualizations screen and select Enhancements and then Play Speed Settings there.

Yellowmandolin, you can only slow down MP3s on your hard drive in Windows Media Player, not a CD track. Just thought I'd mention it, took me a while to figure that out http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Haven't tried the other various software mentioned but the WMP slow down method is pretty horrible, just sort of sounds like a skipping CD, but I guess it's something.

I have not tried it but instead of going directly from your CD. Extract the track to a .wav file then play that from your hard drive. Skipping probably will go away.

WMP can't slow down a CD track, it can only slow down a file on the drive, still with the skipping...
