When two notes or more on the same stem are 1/16 or greater are they played DUDUetc.? I have a piece that indicates 1/32 notes and wonder if it should be played this way. I just ain't fast enough to do all downs. But the ups sound a lot different than the downs. Thanks John

Hmmmmm....I think that I understand the question.....maybe. It appears to me that you are reading from standard notation. If the two or more notes are on the same stem, they should be played together as if they were a single note. For instance the A string fretted at the fourth fret (C#) and the E string played open (E), fit well played against an A chord. Just play both courses of strings as if they were one just as you play both strings on a single course as if they were one. The pick diretion will be predominantly determined by the length of the note and the length of the note that precedes it and follow it. The only tough part of it is getting the pick to stop before it strikes the adjacent course of strings, but that will come with a little paractie. In tablature, these are written with the fret numbers directly above one another, but they are played exatly the same way.

JiminRussia Thanks that is what I was after. So, regardless of the # of notes, I play it as if it were one. That is what I was doing but figured I'd better check. Oh, I love your tag line. Every time I see it I see ten till I get to the end and see the binary reference. I was laughing pretty good the first time. John
