Pardon me for my ignorance about the high end mando market...
I was playing a gig at a country club tonight. We were playing Friend of the Devil, and this old guy (meaning 5 years older than me) came up smiling and said "...wish I had my F5 Loar here, but I sold it..." How much? I asked "$70,000", he replied. Yeah, right, I thought... but these were rich cats, so maybe that's what rich people will pay for an instrument. He didn't mention whom he had sold it to. Sure seems like a lot of money. Was he putting me on?
