There are about 8 spots left for the Klamath River MandoJam w/ Radim Zenkl, November 11-14. #The whole event will be limited to 14 participants, and we will most likely divide into two levels, so it's a great opportunity to get some high quality, concentrated teaching time with one of the Masters. #For those who may be interested, read on:
MandoJam, Just The Facts:

Sandy Bar Ranch is located on the Klamath River, in the heart of the Klamath Mts. In Northern California, and offers access to swimming, biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, rafting and many miles of wilderness trails. Radim Zenkl plays and teaches a wide range of styles including Bluegrass, Swing, Flamenco, Celtic, Jazz and Eastern European. All levels of players are welcome to come learn and play in a supportive environment. All acoustic instruments are welcome, though instruction will be on the mandolin.
· Where: Sandy Bar Ranch, Orleans, California
· When: Thursday evening, November 11 to Sunday November 14.
· Cost: $200/person, includes hostel style lodging in cabins or camping, 1 meal/day (participants responsible for other meals) and all workshops and jam circles.
About the MandoJam & Sandy Bar Ranch:
The idea behind the MandoJam is to provide an opportunity for mandolin players of various levels and styles to come together in a beautiful mountain setting and supportive environment. We hosted our first MandoJam in June of 2004 and it was a huge success. #We keep the setup simple to keep costs down - lodging is in riverside cabins, hostel style, or camping. We will serve one meal a day and participants are on their own for the other two (good opportunity for potlucks with cabin mates and other cabins). #Sandy Bar Ranch is located on the Klamath River in Northern California. We have four redwood cabins on the river and a 1 acre homestead where we grow a lot of our own food. You can check out our website at sandybar.com (http://www.sandybar.com). Anyone who has been to the Klamath River in Northern Humboldt County knows how uniquely beautiful this corner of California is. We are in the middle of the Six River National Forest and close to 4 wilderness areas - Siskiyou, Marble Mountain, Russian and Trinity Alps. We're right on the Klamath River, which offers swimming, fishing & rafting, and just 7 miles from the Salmon River, which has world class kayak runs and some of the best swimming holes anywhere. #The fall MandoJam in November is of course not the best time for swimming in the river, but typically the woods are filled with wild mushrooms, so we could lead a hike or two, depending on interest. #
About Radim Zenkl:
Radim is an eclectic artist who has mastered a wide range of styles including Bluegrass, Swing, Flamenco, Celtic, Jazz and Eastern European. #In addition he has developed a completely new approach to playing the mandolin that incorporates open tunings, finger picking and chord melodies. #I attended the Mandolin Symposium, which was taught by David Grisman, Mike Marshal, Chris Thile, Radim Zenkl, Don Steirnberg and Mike Compton. #In my humble opinion, #Radim was one of the best instructors among them. #He has a methodical, hands-on approach to teaching that starts with the basics and builds in complexity so that he does not leave beginners behind, yet is able to offer new insight and technique to more advanced players. #We will divide the group into two levels, if necessary, so that Radim can better address players specific interests and capabilities. #
For more information you can e-mail me at mando@sandybar.com. #You can visit our website at sandybar.com (http://www.sandybar.com) (my webmaster hasn't updated the MandoJam page yet). # To register you can send a $100 deposit to MandoJam, Sandy Bar Ranch. PO Box 347 Orleans, CA, 95556. # Let me know if you have any questions. #-Mark DuPont (mandolinista) http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
