Kent, that is awesome!!! The pics on your website are great too.
Everybody should take a look.
I'm waiting on a shipment of wood to get started on my first try. I hope it goes better than my "remodel" of a KM350s the other day http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hey Kent, one more thing. I'm collecting cool mando picks and using them as wallpaper (I use Webshots). How 'bout a landscape photo of the headstock, back, scroll, etc.???

Kent, how's it sound & play? What woods? Radiused fretboard or flat? I'm curious on the details....

Adirondack Red Spruce top and Red Maple back/neck from Old Standard Wood. #Flat fingerboard (I want to do a radius on #3). #I'm still working out the action, but so far it plays well. #The tone isn't quite up to Harlan #1, but that one has been played for year. #I think this one will be just as good, but only time will tell. #I'm already looking forward to starting on #3 (I have 3 sons, so I have to build at least 3 of these!).
Thanks for all the kind comments.

Kent, your mandolins look like the work of a pro. It is hard to believe this is only #2. Thanks for the beautiful pics.

Kent - Since my first name is Harlan (I go by my middle name) does that mean I get one for free.... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Awesome looking mandolin!

Kent,
I wake up to this! Great job. What did you do to get the shine on it? How many coats of lacquer etc.? How is the sound different than #1?
Keep up the good work.

That is really beautiful. I admire your skill. I have just begun working on #1 again. Hopefully it looks one-quarter as nice as this. Thanks for sharing pictures of your work-it is inspiring to see.

Stanley, it has about 10 coats of lacquer, sanded with MicroMesh up to 12000 grit, then rubbed with clear-coat compound. #
Here's another picture I took yesterday. #I just thought it looked cool (can you tell I'm a little proud of it?).

Kent, That is a fine looking mando!! I love the sunburst. Without a doubt one of the nicest finish jobs of any mando I've seen! Keep up the good work. You are an awesome builder http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

on the back on #2, I very much like the way the curl in the maple gets darker towards the top... very classy!
