I am wanting to come up with some songs that can be pulled off with amateurs: neighbors and their kids. If it's not too cold I was planning on bring the mando and another friend, a guitar. I am looking for easy to play - not a lot of chord changes - since it is likely to be cold here in the Midwest very soon.

I haven't seen caroling done in years and I was hoping to revive it for the next generation - worth a shot, right ? Plus it's a lot o' fun !!

Look at Allan Alexander's Christmas book or Butch Baldassari's Evergreen. Both have oog places to start.

Oh? :disbelief:

I'm not sure he wanted an oog place. In fact I'm almost certain if he showed up on my door step an oog'd I'd not be handing out candy canes.

:))

I guess those would be good places to start... Perhaps a little hasty in pushing the post reply button.

Another option is to borrow a hymnal from your Church and use some carols/hymns from there. You can convert the top line of the treble cleff to tab (or sight read it) and then people will be singing a version they are familiar with or can read from.

The nice thing about carols is they can be easy to learn, usually have just an A part and they are fun. Have a blast, and oog luck! ;)
