Hey all my pieces are bowed a bit the length of the neck. My question is can I use Spruces damp towel trick to straighten them or should I scrap them and move on to some new pieces? I wonder if straitened that once they are glued up they will want to separate later. Thanks John
It sounds like there was internal stress in your neck blanks before they were sawed. Now that the stress has been relieved, your blanks have bowed. I would be inclined to think you should plane or sand them flat if you can do so without applying the type of pressure that would be forcing them flat while you are working on them. That way you will have flat, unstressed pieces of wood when finished.
