Dumb, I know...but I have these leather straps with circle/notch on one end to attach to the endpin and a wide slot to run the strap through itself on the other end. I've tried wrapping it around the headstock, but I don't like the feel of that. Theres so many beautiful pics of mandolins here, but mostly with no strap attached. How do you A guys do it?

Some attach a button to the heel, others attach strap to headstock, some go under the fingerboard extension and around the neck there.

button in the heel for me. THe balance is just right (same for strap under fretboard elevation). The strap on the headstock made me crazy for a number of reasons http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Black shoelace threaded through the slit, then tied around peghead w/lace under the strings, between the pegs.

Thanks guys! Its nice to see that there are choices. I think I'm going to try PhilGE's method first, but I may try the under the fingerboard extension methos too just to compare and see what feels most comfortable. Sheesh...you'd think after building two mando's I'd have the strap thing together. Well, the F5 was easy, with the built in strap holder! Never tried using this strap with an A before.

Crawdad, you can see what I meant HERE (http://www.DanKlarmann.com/SugarHill/2003/index.html#DCP_5709.jpg). This was taken by a friend at Sugar Hill 2003 old-time dance and music weekend outside Bloomington, IN.
