I'm getting ready to make a big batch of mahogany linings. I was wondering before I start, Do any of you builders have a preference of which way the grain is running through it? This will be reversed kerf lining.
The attachment shows several different orientations.
I realize they won't always be exactly the same, but if you could have your pick? Thanks

I think it makes no difference. First of all, the dimensions are so small that wood movement is negligible so grain orientation doesn't really matter for that, 2, mahogany is one of the two or three most stable woods as far as TR ratio (tangential to radial shrinkage) so it matters even less because of that, 3, the strength is about the same no matter how you do it.

Agree with John.

Thanks John and Michael. I think I have been told this before but my memory loses more things than I do. This will make the board selection very easy.
