I have a ten year old Weber Gallatin Mandolin with the original Weber case. I am considering getting a Tone Gard, but am worried that the added thickness will cause additional pressure on the face of the mandolin when it the case is closed. I'm paranoid about damaging the instrument. Also would an armrest and Tone Gard combo fit in the case.

Thanks,
Peter

I have a Yellowstone. With the toneguard attached to the mandolin, there is no problem with the mandolin fitting in a Weber case.

I don't have any problem with my Bighorn and my ToneGard

Not even a strap will fit without coercion with my Bitteroot... (Have got one of these detachable clippy straps which works well as it fits under the nut/headstock rolled up)

So that would be a no...

I have a tonegard on my Hyalite mandola that fits fine in the case. I also have trouble fitting the strap in - seems a bit tight along the neck. The tone gard doesn't seem to add any pressure to the closing of the lid.

Did you use a mandolin sized Tone-Gard, or does he make a mandola sized one?

It was a custom sized gard. I had to trace the body and mail it in (the tracing). It fits perfectly and I love what it does.

My first mandolin student has a Weber Gallatin with a TG, and it fits good in his shaped Weber case. It will, more than likely, fit tight at first, but it will loosen up in a short amt. of time.

Thanks for all your feedback. I think I am going to get one. I'll let you know how it fits.
