video cassette repair

My video player attempted to snack on my Sam Bush tape a few weeks ago. I was able to get the tape out without ripping it and took the cassette apart to get it back together. I thought I had been careful to note where things were when I got it apart but apparently not since it now will not play or rewind. I have a feeling I did something wrong installing the little spring loaded plastic ratchet pieces. It looks like it should be repairable so any advice on how to get it working before I pull it apart again would be greatly appreciated.

I recently had a similar problem, the only solution I came up with was to open an old blank cassette and follow the way the tape was threaded.
