View Full Version : Flamenco?
Has anyone ever tried to do flamenco music on a mandolin? If so, how did it turn out?

Take a looksy (http://www.zenkl.com/mmarticle.htm), and follow your ears to Amazon for sound samples and a purchase, perhaps.

PS. Is there anything a mandolin can't do, that's worth doing?

I´ve mentioned the few examples of mando in flamenco that I know in this thread: Flamenco (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52890)
I´ve played mando and bouzouki in a spanish band years ago that played songs of Ketama, Manzanita, Manolo Garcia and others. "Entre dos Aguas" (thanks for that mando version, David) was always a favored jam-tune.
It worked quite well with mando instruments and it was a different sound that was appreciated by the other players. I found the Bouzouki in GDAD particularly well suited for the music. But on the other hand this was never really playing Flamenco, more flamenco-oriented music.
Alison Stephens is indeed great, sounds wonderful. Thanks Jamie.
