A tune that fits the mood I'm in. Some flubs (not necessarily obvious) in the ending, but otherwise a fun and challenging tune to play in standard tuning on a mandolin (considering Jimmy did it in an alternate tuning on guitar).

Hi Jim,
One of my favorites to play on guitar...one of the first tunes I figured out by ear, I play in standard tuning as I didn't know of the alternate tuning used by Page at the time. I dig your version of this and will be tackling this on mandolin soon. Also, I am interested in your recording setup for the clip you posted on YouTube...you got a killer sound. Great job.

Recording set up: Recording straight into my Intel iMac using iMovie. Reverb is one of the stock iMovie plugins. The iMac mic is exceptionally good. Also what helps is having an excellent octave mandolin!

Love it Jim. Great song! I used to love playing this on guitar and sliding that chord in the middle. You know the one.
Hey, got to play a GREAT Kimble yesterday... started taking lessons from Andy Statman thanks to the Scott posting that he was taking new students in New York, and he let me try his mando, which of course I was too scared to really play much. Will originally made it for his own personal use, so you know it's good. Wow! And of course it sounds twice as good when Andy plays it.
Great teacher too. I'm twice the player I was yesterday, but boy do I have some practicing to do! Keep these up Jim, I enjoy these. Thanks for sharing.

My Kimble is the brother to Statman's Kimble. Mine uses the same maple tonewood. Would love to have Andy as a teacher. You lucky dog!

Wow. I've had very little experience with professional grade mandolins, but as a child I was fortunate to play a friend's Stradivarius violin a few times, so when I first picked up the Kimble to examine it closely, the way the side wood looked and the carved top, it was like a deja vu moment. I had been there before.

That's fantastic. Any chance you have that tabbed out anywhere?
Led Zeppelin taught me how to play guitar, and that's all I listened to from 7th grade till junior in high school.
I came up with an "interpretation" of Bron Yr Aur on mandolin, maybe I'll try to record and post it.

No tab right now--still just up in the noggin'. Probably will be a long time before I have the opportunity to tab it out.
