I have not seen a copy since Summer '08, the Yank Rachel issue. Has anyone got issues after that available for sale?

I subscribed about 2 months ago. So far no magazine. I'm still waiting:whistling:

Been getting them since V1#1, she even sent me a gratis replacement for an issue that got mangled in delivery,
would be more worthwhile if my sight reading didn't suck.

I've had one or two small problems with Mandolin Magazine but they have always resolved. Ginny Hollon (editor) wasn't well for a spell earlier this year and it's a small business operation. I've been a subscriber for 3 years and relatively I would say I've had value for money! The luthiers interview section is excellent.

I've had trouble getting them a lot longer than three years.

I have thought of subscribing to this magazine. Can anyone tell me how many pages it averages or if it's in color? It looks more like a news letter. Web page doesn't give this info. Is it worth the money? I hate buying magazine subscriptions of magazine i have never seen in person. Never seen these in the stores....Mike

I've been a subscriber for about 3 years. Never had any communication problems. Black & white. No color except the cover.

I always find something helpful or interesting in each issue.
Jazz hints from our own Donny Stiernberg are always good.

Each issue features an article about a mandolin luthier, a major artist, a jazz article, a blues article, a world music article, and a bluegrass article. What have I left out???

Although there are tabs of tunes in each issue, I must admit that I seldom use them.
I enjoy the mag very much. YMMV.

It is a terrific magazine, I'm just frustrated that I can't get it.

Some forward-thinking collector should endow this publication with a half million to ensure its long-term survival. I don't know of anything else like it. Where else can you find John McGann, Steve Kaufman, Rich DelGrosso, Marilynn Mair, James Condino, and Don Stiernberg posting columns and/or usable notation/tab? This is straightforward musical journalism--a player's magazine with a nod to the builders--rather than a breathless glamour glossy.

The Jethro Burns issue is the last one (or at least that's the last one I've gotten). I believe what's in their web is from older issues (I remember that article, but I can't remember when it was). I only wish it came more often (rather than just quarterly). I realize that it's probably a struggle just to get the quarterly ones done but I really do enjoy them when they arrive,

Flagship subscriber here, too. Never have any probs with the subscription, although have heard of issues. It's a lot of work to put this thing out, I am sure. The format has remained unchanged over the years, save for the falling away of a classifieds section, and a letters to the editor section (I think). Quarterly publication actually seems about right, to me.

At one point, Ginny offered a set of strings to the original subscribers, a nice gesture.

Hi Mike

I live in Scotland and have had relatively little trouble. It's a little delayed but no major problems and those that have cropped up have been dealt with.

Overall I'd recommend it to anyone who plays mandolin. It's pure and like the Cafe, 100% mando!

I retract my complaint. Apparently I'm an email doofus. After reading the current thread about the classifieds (and Scott's common user error post) and having Ginny contact me, I suspect my problems and maybe most others non-communications are due to spam filters. If your spam filters are ratcheted tight, you may not get legitimate emails. Turns out my "spam folder" is really a bulk email folder. The stuff my provider thinks is utter spam is not delivered at all. Sometimes my provider decides incorrectly. I thought if I checked the "spam folder" I was seeing everything. Nope.

Guess the Business the publisher, if they read this post can get the company Email re-installed,
in compliance with the ground rules .
I read data off the front page of the magazine and sent what they had in public print,
apparently a Faux Pas,

oh well. :whistling:

next life I may be successful, not this one.

I've subscribed to the magazine for 3 years, and recently got a notice that I need to renew. I did and got a response back acknowledging my renewal.

I enjoy the magazine a lot. VERY mando-centric, and full of different types of music for the mando. I highly recommend it.

I received the latest issue yesterday and am always pleased to find the wide variety of mando coverage Mandoline Magazine contains. I have subscribed for many years and also bought all the back issues when I discovered what a fine publication it was.

Ginny Hollon has always been very quickly responsive to inquiries and, like one of the posters above, sent me a replacement issue for one destroyed by the U.S. Postal Service. Please do subscribe. You won't regret it, and our community needs to support this fine publication.

Whatever happened to the publication Mandolin Quarterly? Someone gave me a few old copies of this publication recently. It had some good Tab in them.
