Hi all, I apologize if this has been covered before in other threads, which I've read and found helpful.

So in getting a light case which will work for standard F's and long-necked A's, it seems like:

1) People really like Travelite, but it doesn't have an inner or outer pocket for gear.

On the other hand, they can be carried like a backpack, or over the shoulder.

2) Gator light cases do have an outer pocket but it's not clear to me that they can be carried like a backpack.

3) TKL Zero Gravity cases have a pocket and it can be worn like a backpack, but some people find it annoying that the backpack straps can't be fully removed.

Am I missing anything?

Anything else I should consider?

It seems like the Travelite gets great reviews, but if the others are just as good and also have gear pockets that's the deciding factor.

Thanks so much,

Neal

Buy the one that has the features you want.

Hi Mike, yeah, I agree, that's what I'm trying to figure out :)

The only raps I have ag. Travelite (own 2, and use 'em) are:

1) in both cases, the front pillowed support - closest to the headstock - quickly deflated, so that the neck rests on the hard thin felt-covered wooden stuff box lid. I have 2 rags placed there for cushioning,

2) There are saddle/string indents in the case lid underside, from use. Not a big deal, as I can tell there is no undue pressure there, but...

The other cases you list are not familiar to me.

Take a look through these (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/search.php?query=gator&exactname=0&starteronly=0&forumchoice%5B%5D=&prefixchoice%5B%5D=&childforums=1&titleonly=1&searchdate=0&beforeafter=after&do=process) threads. The applicable threads will jump right out at you, one of them in particular.

I have a Zero Gravity and while it's lightweight, I find it to be quite bulky and cumbersome.

Cheers,
Jill

Mike- I am abashed that I missed the thread on Gator cases which answered my question about backpack straps.

Duh!

thanks for pointing it out to me.

I really appreciate the help although I'm a bit embarrassed that what I was looking for was right under my search button. . .

thank you

The Travelite I had did have a small storage box under the neck area. The storage area had a lid with a hygrometer inserted. It was a not a lot of storage, but room for strings, picks, a tuner, a strap. I liked the case very much. There was no outer storage compartment. I noticed no sinkage of the padding, but I only had it for a year and a half or so.
