I know the consensus is to go from scratch. However that is not do-able for everyone. It appeares to me that starting with a premium kit and having a first rate luthier do the tool work is a great way to get a premium F5. I have found a few kits on the market:Siminoff,Stewart-McDonald,and Ratliff. Are there any others? I have read in the forums in the past of players having used the Stewart- McDonald kit and ending up with a very decent mandolin. Are any of you playing a mando from a kit and what was your experience with the process? Lp
