Pampered Chef Mandolin? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20641&item=4319846454&rd=1)
You have to wonder how the word mandolin got in to that description?

There's actually a brand name slicer, I believe, called a Mandoline. It's the kind of thing you'd see in Williams-Sonoma or other high end yuppie cooking gadget stores. I remember a neighbor of mine many years back had one and he severely injured himself with it( sliced open his finger quite badly--a nice clean cut though!). And, if you want the F-style with the fancy slicing scroll on top, it'll cost you twice as much.
Hey Gang,
My wife is big into Pampered Chef. We have one of these slicers. They are *really* sharp! They come with a holder that you poke into whatever you are slicing -- cheese, potatoes etc. I used to use it w/o the holder, and I once took out a huge chunk of my thumb! Fortunately, the chunk has grown back, but there are still a few blood spots on the ceiling from when I shook my hand after the cut http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Beware!

Well, if you have a round-hole mando, you could always press the potato really hard on the strings above the hole !!!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif !!!!

It's not a name brand -- that's what they're called.
Google "food mandolin"

If you look up the word "mandoline" in the Merriam Webster dictionary, you will be taken to "mandolin", where you will find one of the following definitions:
2 usually mandoline [French, from Italian mandolino mandolin] : a kitchen utensil with a blade for slicing and shredding
I like a mandolin with a good "chop", something that will really "slice" through all the other noise.
Gawd, you should see my fingers after trying to get a good chop from my mandoline http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
