Gerry, Did you make it to CCMC? I can't tell if I recognize you by the picture. What were your thoughts? Likes and dislikes if any?

Marty,

Yup! We were there. We had a great time.

We got up there early Friday afternoon. Went to August's first session at the Grange. We pretty much participated in all the events except for Saturday afternoon. My wife and niece hit the bookstores and thrift shops, and just enjoyed the cottage on the beach. I was having a major allergy attack and stayed at the cottage.

My niece did all the beginner workshops with Beverly and I did the Klezmer workshops/ensemble with Seth.

The concert on Saturday evening was awesome. All the wonderful instruments and great players.

Don Stiernberg really stood out. Man, that guy is pretty darn comfy on his mando isn't he?

We left early Sunday A.M. We had to get my niece back down to NYC as she is in school there and had to be in class on Monday morning. We had breakfast at the 6A Cafe' (HIGHLY recommended) and hit the road.

Did you stay for the Student Concert? If so, how'd it go? It looked to me like Don's ensemle was the largest. We had 6 players in the Klezmer ensemble on Saturday. Beverly was suppose to replace me on the octave mandolin for the performance.

How about you? What was your experience?

OK, Yes, I remember you now (it was the allergy that tipped me off!). We talked prior to the orientation at the Grange Hall. I was sitting directly across from you. (Loratadine). Overall it was a good experience. Beverly Woods and Seth Austin were fantastic. Don Steirnberg was amazing which is an understatement but I'm not finding the right words at this moment.
I was in the bluegrass ensemble. Probably not the best year to go to CCMC for bluegrass even though I did go to the "Monore Style Mandolin" workshop with Keith Baumann which was very, very good. I am using the Southern Flavor sheet music from it right after this post. I think next year I will attend the Fiddleheads Camp --> http://www.fiddleheadscamp.com <-- since the CCMC will be "classical" oriented from the sounds of what August Watters said.

CCMC was a blast as usual. I now have a year's worth of homework to work on :) I was in the Blues Ensemble with Keith (the guitar player).

Don Steirnberg was a cool cat, who can really play. Very entertaining show!

I went to August Watters' Ear Training for Improvisors, Seth's Chord Construction Basics (inversions) and Keith Baumann's Intro to Western Swing.

Thanks in part to Nancy's vocal workshop last year, I mustered the courage to sing the opening number: "The Deep Ellum Blues".

That brings me to the real point of this post: I made a recording of the student concert on Sunday, and cut it up into individual tracks, but I don't know the names of all the songs.

Does anyone know the names of the following tunes?

the second song the beginners did
the three songs the bluegrass ensemble did

Hi Jim!

The second song from the beginner's ensemble was Saint Anne's Reel

The bluegrass group - The first one was Red Haired Boy, the second one was Arkansas Traveler, and the third one was Big Sciota. Except I'm not certain if Arkansas Traveler was second and Big Sciota was third, or the other way around...

Nice meeting you at camp!
