Now this (http://denver.craigslist.org/msg/1331766907.html) is interesting.

Tight-lipped descriptions like this one amuse me. Made by a well-known luthier, eh? Just what is gained by withholding the name of said luthier?

Now, Martin, you know that Shotgun Willy doesn't reveal his luthiers' names!

Seller says it was built by Harry Fleischman. Not well known by me ... anyone else heard of him?

come on, martin. you remember those catchy ad campaigns like 'Women prefer men who play Fleischmans.' or 'They'll know you've arrived when you show up with your Fleischman' or my favorite, 'I'd rather be playing my Fleischman.'

Actually, I looked at the guy's site and it looks like he makes some really nice stuff.

I always preferred his margarine.

It actually kind of looks a bit like the work of Rex Bogue, who built doublenecks for John McLaughlin.

Seller is telling me that the instrument was originally built for David Lindley, who sent it back ... then Fleishman replaced the pickups and sold it to Ry Cooder.

Were I the seller, I would have included that sort of history in my listing -- as well as the name of the luthier to Martin's earlier point.

Well, at least she's forthcoming with that information if you contact her!

If the second neck were a tenor, I would be tempted. But I imagine she wants a pretty penny for it, given its purported provenance.
