Last night I watched a Bill Gaither production of The Isaacs. Adam Steffey was playing mandolin; was he ever a "regular" with them?

Between his time with Alison Kraus and rejoining Mountain Heart he did play with The Isaacs as a "regular". Is he married to one of the Isaacs?

No Adam is not married to one of the Isaacs, he sorta took Sonya's place when she was doing her country music scene and she was able to only be with the Isaac's here and there. Adam had help start Mountain Heart when leaving AKUS when the call came from the Isaacs and wanted his help. Alan Perdue then helped out Mountain Heart for awhile.

They are a great group. I believe John Bowmans relationship with Adam during the AKUS days helped tie them together.

Adam sure made them sound good, and I think he saw another side of the business while playing with them.

So there you have the worlds prettiest mandolin Player and the worlds best mandolin player all in one group,at least for a while http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've heard people sing Adam's praises for years but have never heard him live and don't have any AKUS cd's. If I wanted to buy one CD to see what everybody likes so much about him which would you recommend?

AKUS "EVERY TIME YOU SAY GOODBYE" simply the best

either his solo cd grateful (some cool known and unknown instrumentals, some vocals and some gospel), Alison krausse and union station so long so wrong (only one instrumental, the rest vocals but an excellent showing for steffey) or bluegrass 96-all instrumental mostly standard fiddle tunes- benson is on 2 tunes and steffey is on the rest

You don't have any AKUS cds? That is a crime! Yes, Every Time You Say Goodbye is a great album to get. Well, they all are, but a lot of people recommend that one because of the mandolin. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I heard Adam with Mountian Heart for the first time, last Saturday in Michigan and he played great. Fast and clean.

You can see him play with the isaacs on the video "Stand Still Off Stage". I love this video because its informal in the isaacs living room.just a "jam session" of the material on the album, with adam and the isaacs goofing around and playing great music. get it on the isaacs website.
