Kay Venetian mandolins

I've got a chance to pick up two Kay venetian mandolins. The guy wants $250 for each, which seems a little high. Any idea what these things typically go for? I'm mainly a guitarist and banjo player, but I'd like a mandolin to play around with. These obviously aren't f-style, but I assume they don't have quite the same tone as an a-style...anybody played one before?

A friend bought one last year at an estate sale for $30. I set it up for him and sold it on eBay for a little over $200, and the new owner (a Kay collector) was thrilled. It wasn't bad, but I had no interest in owning it.
