Here is what the website says...
Up in the hills of East Tennessee it's no surprise to find bluegrass musicians, but a university program dedicated to its practice and preservation is a surprise indeed. Last winter, ETSU's bluegrass program asked us to document and explain what it is, what it does, and how it shapes lives. I shot for three days in Johnson City Tenn. in April and produced this 9-minute profile of a unique and special institution. Its instructors are remarkable musicians and educators, and it was a huge pleasure to work with Raymond McLain, Karen Sullivan and co. Forgive me for using this as an excuse to pump our Vimeo embed feature. Just enter the video number in the dialogue box (see the V icon on when composing a message). Very nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I start there in January and am pretty jazzed. If they do a video of the crusty old retreads, I'll be in that one.
Bonus: I can use this video to answer the "what kind of music program is it again?" questions.
Thanks.

I don't think I ever get tired of seeing people who do what they love, and love what they do. Thanks for sharing the video.

Just an observation that tickled my brain...

I think what made this video especially unique was seeing the two young ladies from overseas (one from Japan and the one from Norway) studying bluegrass ETSU.

It kind of reminded me of the country/ bluegrass band from the former USSR Bering Strait. I'm tempted to see if I can find the interview of those kids.

Thanks for the video

Mighty fine. I live just five miles down the road from ETSU. They couldn't have gotten a better director that Raymond McClain. I remember seeing him at the Carter Fold with the McClain Family Band years ago. As an aside, it is interesting all the folks from other countries who show up around here. I went to see a group from New Zealand a year or so ago, and the first song they did was "Wagon Wheel" Old Crow Medicine Show version, which has a line about Johnson City TN. Strange that they came all the way here to the US and plopped down right in Johnson City to sing their song.
