I have never tried one so I cannot offer any advice. There have been many, many threads about them and most people seem to have favorable comments about them.
If you do a search spell guard without the "U" as that is how the product's name is spelled, tone-gard.
The website for them is at http://www.tone-gard.com/.

Here is a recent thread (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53342&highlight=Tone-Gard) about them. I love mine-- I think it made a very noticeable difference in sound. Plus, it helps to guard against buckle rash.

Here's (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/search.php?query=tonegard&exactname=0&starteronly=0&forumchoice%5B%5D=&prefixchoice%5B%5D=&childforums=1&titleonly=1&searchdate=0&beforeafter=after&do=process) 16 threads to check out, there are probably a few dozen more available. I use them on all my mandolins.

I have been using a TraveLite case and I keep it on all the time and the case closes fine. I even have a armrest on top and it still closes fine.

My mandolins with tonegards are in TKL and Calton cases and close fine.

So with a tone-gard a clip on tuner and pick holder and an armrest scratchplate and Weber Wood nymph....should look real pretty! ;)
