If I were you .. I would have already flipped out. Get the french guy's address and get the next ticket to France. I'd like that cheese eater to taste my Easton. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Sorry fellas, I lost my head. I'm removing the barbed comments so that we can get back to more important issues at hand..... that pear salad sounds like a winner.
I'd like to ask Grandmainger to remove my quoted, less than thoughtful remarks from his post so we can all just get along.

Folks, far be it from me to be lunch room monitor, but let me remind everybody that this is an internationally participated board.
Last time discussion erupted into bashing our brethren across the pond, we lost some fine contributors and intelligent dialog. Seems it was hard to talk mandolin, midst the unneeded "political" heat.
Grandmainger is correct; "Viva la mandoline."
That's right! I suggest we all go make pear salad & "cool" off.... BTW, here's a great recipe I came across recently!
Pear Salad Mold: 1 can pear halves, 2 pkg. lime jello (3 oz.), 2 c. boiling
water, 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (large size). Now, drain pears and reserve
juice. Place pears in jellomold; mix and cool slightly lime jello and 1
cup boiling water. Pour jello over pears in mold and refrigerate. When firm,
mix and cool slightly second package of lime jello and boiling water and
put in blender and add pear juice and cream cheese (room temperature);
mix until cheese is well blended. Pour into mold over first mixture and refrigerate.

Ted, you're correct, and I for one am happy to be the lunchroom monitor. Some of the posts above are directly political in nature and have no business on this board. Guidelines for appropriate board use are posted here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=23&t=13100) and it's each user's responsibility to abide by those.
