Hello Everyone,
Well I've been at this for a few years now but my first build is done.
Many thanks to all who helped and answered questions.
This site and all those who contribute ideas and awnsers is invaluable. Thank you to all, especially John (Sunburst) for the help. Dale

Congrats on a fine looking mando. For those of us who haven't followed, can you give us the story from selecting the wood to doing the final polish? And what are the specs and details of this fine instrument? I have never attempted such a project.
Thanks
Bob

Looks absolutely great, Dale! Very clean looking - very classy. So, what's it sounding like - what woods, etc.??

Thanks everyone,
This is my first build, it is from scratch, (except for slotting the fingerboard). The top is a reclaimed piece of Douglas Fir. The back is a one piece maple. It has a three piece neck.(maple, walnut, maple) Radiused fingerboard (12) James tailpiece, Waverly tuners, It is oil varnished, It has ivoroid binding.
I basically followed Loar plans, but put my own touches here and there.I read all I could, watched videos, asked questions, and scoured the internet to learn as much as I could, and there is still alot left to learn!!!, But its fun to do. The next ones wont take as long I hope.
It sounds Great, very even across the strings,it has a great warmth on the G and D strings. I am very pleased with the sound. For those who have heard it, it is very well recived. but I want alot more to hear it and get more opinions. Dale

Extremely nice mandolin Dale! Definitely doesn't look like a first. Keep up the good work. Time for a youtube video. Or find someone with some decent recording equipment! Haha!

Dale that looks great and congratulations. I also like the way you did your name in the peghead. Nice touch.
