If anybody out there in the Oh/Ky/Ind area needs a mando player who also plays guitar and sings the parts please let me know. You PM me for my #'s
Thanks!

You know it's funny Scotti, since getting back into mandolin and bluegrass music in particular, I've harbored absolutely NO desire to do the band thing again.
I'm perfectly happy to just jam with my bluegrass friends. But recently I find myself standing in more and more with some of the local bands and have been formally asked to join 2 different bands.
At the same time I'm flattered and annoyed because I just want to have fun with my picking and not get all band serious. I want to bow out but I sure don't want to offend any of these fine bluegrass people...descisions, descisions?!?
Anyway Scotti, good luck with your quest.

Well... I'm in KY, but just a little too far away to do you much good Scotti. I'm the opposite of Mark though. I'm getting a little tired of the jam scene and would love to find some folks to get together with and work out some tunes. Good luck... I know how hard it is to find people to pick with.

It is hard to find the right folks, and then there's the band serious thing (like that phrase, Mark.)
Both scenarios are not easy.

I used to play professionally in my younger years...got way burnt out. Now being laid off and having a hard time securing employment I thought I would go back to my God given talent and try to raise some cash that way. Im currently playing in a band but its not keeping busy enough to generate some tolerable funds. Thats why Im dangling the carrot out there. Thanks guys.

Scotti,
Have you thought about teaching? No, it's not nearly as fun as performing but it can be MUCH more reliable. If you're teaching both guitar and mandolin that too offers more options.
I know for some people teaching is too painful to be worth the effort, but it is always an option. . . . .

Yes..I have thought about teaching mando and guitar. I even put ads in the papers..bulletin boards..etc. But the problem is where I live there arent many players...Im about 35 miles east of Cincy...the players and teachers in that city pretty much have that sewed up.
