I was down in Dover, Kent, UK this weekend and bumped into my old mate Nick 'Topper' Headon of the Clash. His drug abuse problem was well documented and I am pleased to say he is now fit and healthy again. Nick keeps fit and goes to local schools to talk about the dangers of drug abuse. I have attached a couple of pics I took of Nick with my Paul Shippey Cherry Mandolin including a London Calling moment that made me hold my breath (and Paul Shippey's for that matter! Sorry Paul).

Also see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7872043.stm a news piece Nick did on fitness and drumming....

Great photos there Tosh! Topper Headon is one of my all time favourite drummers and was and is a huge influence on me as a drummer to this day (I'm an old punk).

Cheers,
Jill

Loved Topper! Of course The Clash was a huge influence on my music journey. Glad to see he is on the right side of the dirt.

Thanks for the pics! Without Topper, the Clash weren't the Clash, imo. What a great musician - glad to see he's healthy & doing well.

Glad you enjoyed the pics, here is another one of Topper I took a couple of years ago down at the Louis Armstrong pub in Dover on Canadian multi-instrumentalist Paul Clifford's diddy kit (Be Good Tanya's fame http://www.paulclifford.moonfruit.com/ )
Also Nick is president of the LA Music Club, a local charity in Dover aimed at getting kids involved in music which I wholeheartedly support. See http://thelamusicclub.com/2009/03/welcome-to-the-la-music-club/ (Hard to drag them away from play stations and computer games these days!)
