Anyone have a Softy and an A model? I'd like to get one, but it's not clear how it attached to an A model. Both my As have a strap button and I'd like to go that route if possible.

I'm not sure what you're asking. I have Softies for two of my A models and they work great. They attach via one of holes for the rear button and one of the holes for the front button.

I have a Collings strap on my Eastman A, which I think is the same thing as the LH. I have it strapped to the head between the tuners, and it works great.

Same as Lee - I have mine attached around the headstock.

Others solve the dilemma with a cord tied around/under the end of the fingerboard .
Really becomes a big non-issue.. :whistling:

I use one and love it. I tie one end between a set of tuners and the other end over the endpin. The only problem I have is that the endpin connection is not the safest. Luckily I play seated most of the time. The leather is super comfortable.

I always install another endpin under or on the back of the heel of any new mandolin I acquire.

I have a Collings LH that I use on my MT. Very soft and supple leather. One miniscule gripe: the sueded side is very grippy. It will pull at my shirt if I move the mando around at all. Not a big deal at all as I have no plans to do the '80s rock guitar trick of swinging my mando all the way around my back and catching it in front again after a break on Rawhide:)
I have a Bailey and it's great. Bill uses my mando to illustrate the details on his ad. I got mine from Lauren, which I suspect is his brother. They've gotten a bit pricey, but they are great. They don't slip or grab. They always get a nod and are well made.
Softy's were my first choice but I'm happy that I found the Bailey Strap. NFI

Let me clarify, I have an end pin AND a strap button (under the neck heel) on both my A models. I want to use the strap button and not tie the strap to the head stock. Can you do this with the softy or is it mainly designed to tie on to the head stock?

Yes. Remove the leather thong. You will have extra leather hanging over, but after I'm completely comfortable with the length, I cut the extra off with a good pair scissors.

Thanks Ted, good to know. I've got a guitar strap on my Mann and I really like the extra width on the strap. I'm thinking I'll like the softy because of that. I'll have to order one up.

I installed a strap button as per the pic. & used a John Brown "A" style strap,
