Seriously though... Do you girls find that your 'anatomy' gets in the way of good mandolin positioning when playing standing up? Just curious...

i do actually find it a little more comfortable playing when i'm sitting down.....but no, i will soon be famous and it will be no problem when i'm playing at Hollywood Bowl and such....(tee hee hee):D

I'm a woman, and my anatomy is just fine for playing standing up. And I don't even use a strap, or see a need for one of those devices to separate the back of the mando from my body, because I just rest the bottom edge against my body, not the whole back. (I usually sit while playing, though, because why stand if you don't have to?)

I'm a girl. Actually, there was a fair number of girls at the mando symposium. More than I would have thought. There were a lot more guys, though.

Probably true, but it seems like there are plenty of 'the fairer sex' around this board ... but who really knows (or cares) unless you're in 3-D.

I've always thought the coolest thing about The Mandolin Cafe is its balance of ages, sexes, amatures, pros, dealers, builders ...

I caught a duo at the Ottawa blues fest this july, Paul Rishell + annie raines ,acoustic blues Very nice , just the 2 of them and she (annie) played a mean harp and mando ! Only anatomy issue she had was her long hair got caught in the headstock at one point when she went to set it down , she made a bit of a joke about it . I just checked and they have a web site and have been awarded the HC handy prize for best acoustic blues album . I guess I'm out of touch .
