looking for some inspiration here

my band is an acoustic cover band; we play a lot of songs from the sixties seventies nineties and eighties, and also the last decenium, a very broad repertoire
recently I started using my mandolin in the band
some of the songs I play in the band on mandolin( with guitar bass drums and harmony vocals) are
loosing my religon- REM
something stupid- frank sinatra
shiny happy people- REM
the worst- rolling stones( the fiddle bit)
old man- neil young( the banjo solo )
black soul choir- sixteen horsepower
the river- bruce springsteen

I really enjoy playing the rem songs, or things like the riff in old man ( wich was done on banjo originally) also black soul choir ( originally clawhammer banjo) is something I really like to play on mandolin and something I can handle right now.

I am looking for more songs,that could have a mandolin solo and some back up maybe..

our repertoire is , as I said broad. we play from csn&y to david bowie, talking head, the beatles, van morrison, amy winehouse, the corrs, tom waits, nick cave, wille deville , willy nelson, neil young the rolling stones , the three degrees, abba
and many many others

if you have any cool ideas for songs that either allready have a cool mandolin in them or COULD have one ( not to hard though haha I onlys started playing some weeks ago but am a fast learner)
I d love to hear your suggestions

Led Zeppelin "Thank you"

Works really well at about 104bpm, bluegrass type beat... the instrumental bridge is originally guitar, but it's tailor made for mandolin.

Steve Winwood's "Back In The High Life". Fun groove for the mando, though I've never tried to sing it.

"Tears Of A Clown" a la The English Beat (sort of a ska version).

"Don't Look Back" a la David Lindley.

Actually any of Van's sound great on mandolin: Caravan, Madame George, Veeden Fleece, Tupelo Honey, etc.

The Stones Loving Cup lays out pretty nicely...lots of Tom Petty songs work great for mando also (as their lead plays some mando as well)...while not as cool as most of the songs listed here (IMO), the Plain White Tees 1234 lays out well (intro, solo, and the chords...one of the few songs I play that my kids think are "cool")...
