G'day friends. Awhile back there was a discussion about the slender "football" shaped Rainieri picks. I passed a picture and other information I could find to Vinni at "V-picks", and he is making them now. He sent me one and it is a really cool plectrum to use. I have a little bowl back, and the sweet tremolo and gentle nuance makes playing it a new experience. I had made a couple from old pick guard material, and was becoming very pleased with the shape, and now with Vinni's pick material I can't put my mandolin down. Now I can't wait until my "new" (restored) old bowl back from Jake arrives. My present bowl back needs to hang on the wall...My pick is a 1.5mm. I think he is going to offer a 2 & 3mm size also.

Thanks so much for the idea, my friend. Those are fun to make.
The material available is 1.0mm 1.5mm and 2.75mm

Are these the ones termed "Mandolin Classical" on this page (http://v-picks.com/picks)?
I have a few of these Roman-style picks. The one I use is around .80mm so I will order the thinnest you make (1mm). I am not so sure that the thickest ones work for this technique, but I am no real expert. The main thing with these is how the manner that the bevel and the points are created.
Do you make these in the glow in the dark version? -- I tend to play in dark rooms :)

I received the pick from Vinnie today. It actually is quite nice tho about 1mm smaller in size all around than my Euro-made Roman plectra. The sound is also quite nice. I may order a thicker one (1.5mm) and wonder if it could be made with a more-pronounced bevel. In other words, that it thins more gradually from the center to the edges?
