Just got back from the Grass Valley music camp, where the mando teachers were John Reischman, Roland White, and Jason Thomas. Really fun camp.
Last night, they ended the camp with a show sponsored by Mandolin Cafe that featured John and Roland, and backed up by a killer band with Jim Nunally, Mark Schatz, Keith Little, and Paul Shelasky. What a show! Great duet stuff with the two mandos and just first-rate playing all around. Loved watching Roland play, but I think that Reischman may be the perfect mando player. So clean and tasteful, other-worldly tone, and can play it all from Monroe to modern.
Thanks to Scott and the Cafe for treating us to a special evening.
