Dan just made a change to the Classifieds I've been thinking about implementing. Thanks, Dan. For those of you with Facebook accounts that are selling on the Classifieds, or for those FB users that would like to share various ads on your Facebook account, we've implemented a simplified way to do that with a single-click.
On the attached screen shot, when you are in single view mode on the Classifieds, meaning you're displaying just a single ad, you'll see an icon linking to Facebook that when clicked, and if you have an account, will auto-display the ad in your FB. If you are in multi-ad view (here's what that looks like (http://www.mandolincafe.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&results_format=&query=browse)) you won't see that link. Why not show it in the latter view? Because Facebook doesn't appear to allow us to pluck a single item out of a long page of ads that I'm aware of at this time, although I intend to research this further.
Why do this at all? Because if you're selling, you want as many opportunities as possible for people to see your ad. This allows a Facebook user to display a link to your ad and the ad image even if the ad owner doesn't have a Facebook account, and I think that's a desirable outcome.
There may be questions about making changes to the ad appearance in preview mode within FB before it's actually posted. That's actually a Facebook question but suppose many of us can answer that if need be.
Questions?
