Just finished changing out the strings on my A-9, put GHS Silk and Steel on it. Decided that this mando is going to be my church praise band mandolin, my new F-5 will be used for Bluegrass. Although the A sounded great with J-75's, I thought I would put the GHS on for a more softer sound. The F will keep the J-75's on it. Man it sure is a hoot to have two to choose from for differant tones. Never thought I'd see the day I could do that. I know ya'll are getting sick of my ranting and raving, but I never had a chance to rant and rave before about any instrument I owned.

Glad to hear you are happy with your Gibson mandolins! I always like to hear about someone being happy with their mandolins. Enjoy!!

I love my F5G too, but those 75s hurt my fingers so bad I had to go back to 74s. You know, they sounded just as good. Perhaps a little more woof on the G strings, but not enough to put up with the pain. Gibson really has it dialed in right now as evidenced by a Sam Bush I played in Arkansas two weeks ago. Loud, loud and LOUD. And tone out the wazoo. For just a short while, I contemplated selling my boat and a few shotguns to raise the dough. The 9 series are great and I hear good things about the new Jam series. You're lucky, 300win, to have a pair. I just dance with the one sweetheart. And I SURE couldn't afford that new Bush.

bh, if you will look at my picture on my page you might see thay ain't much of a squeeling type there. I talk really, really low, can only sing baritone and bass, so I'm afraid my squeeling would sound more like a bull bellowing, but I will say this that mandolin is very difficult to put down !
