I have a carpenter jack for a violin but it is too small for my mandolin. Also have shadow bridge so I only need the carpenter clamp and jack. Any help appreciated.
Bobby,
If you can't find one, here's a link to one at Elerly's:http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/items/FCJ-MANDOLIN.htm
It's pretty expensive -- $60. #I know I've bought one somewhere for about $20, but I can't remember where.
Good luck. Hoyt

Bobby,
# # # # The barrels on Violin Chin Rest Clamps come in different lengths and you should be able to take your Carpenter Jack to a Violin Shop and get two longer barrels to replace the existing ones. This should do the trick and only cost you a dollar or two.

"carpenter jack"... the mind boggled until I actually ran the term through Google.
I had visions of some aging wood butcher named Jack hard at work in a saw dust covered shop. Or how about a very small screw-type jack used to compress or extend something in violin construction.<G>

Actually, seems the device is named after the bloke who designed it... Fred Carpenter.
